CINEMA COLOMBIANO

ES | Una bestia mutante se suelta a caminar de arriba a abajo por el territorio colombiano. Así “Los Guaqueros”, interpretan los años tempranos de la industria de la música en Colombia durante las primeras 2 décadas del siglo XX, momento en el que comienza el registro sonoro de música nacional y la venta de discos de 78rpm en todo el territorio colombiano. Interpretada y mezclada en vivo, La Tragedia Rústica es una obra audiovisual creada por Mario Galeano (Música) y Mateo Rivano (Animación) quienes bajo el nombre “Los Guaqueros” continúan el camino de revisar los poderes de la música local así como con en sus otras colaboraciones Frente Cumbiero, Los Pirañas u Ondatrópica.

EN | An interpretation of 100 years of music history in Colombia is mixed live into an audiovisual work created by Mario Galeano (music) and Mateo Rivano (animation) who under the name "Los Guaqueros" continue the path of revising the powers of local music as they did with their other collaborations Frente Cumbiero, Los Pirañas and Ondatrópica.

NL | Een live interpretatie van 100 jaar Colombiaanse muziekgeschiedenis door Mario Galeano (o.a. bekend van Los Pirañas, die nog bij Cinema Colombiano in 2017 optraden) en Mateo Rivano (o.a. bekend van animaties voor de Meridian Brothers en Romperayo). Onder de naam "Los Guaqueros" herbekijken zij lokale muziekstromingen, wat vertaald wordt naar dit surrealistisch audiovisuele project op groot scherm.

NL | Op zaterdag 8 juni vindt voor de vijfde keer het CINEMA COLOMBIANO FESTIVAL plaats in Rotterdam! Voor deze feestelijke gelegenheid hebben wij twee speciale gasten uit Bogotá uitgenodigd; Mario Galeano en Mateo Rivano komen langs met hun audiovisuele project LA TRAGEDIA RÚSTICA. Een surrealistisch kunstwerk, dat voor de eerste keer in Nederland uitgevoerd zal worden.

EN | On Saturday the 8th of June CINEMA COLOMBIANO FESTIVAL will celebrate its fifth edition in Rotterdam! For this honorary occasion we've invited some special guests from Bogotá: both Mario Galeano and Mateo Rivano will be here to conduct their live audiovisual project LA TRAGEDIA RÚSTICA. A surreal work of art and music, for the first time on the big screen here in The Netherlands!

VIRUS TROPICAL (Santiago Caicedo, 2017) - 1'37

EN | Based on the graphic novel by POWERPAOLA, this is a girl's coming-of-age tale set in middle-class Ecuador and Colombia, featuring mesmerizing DIY black and white animations and a lo-fi Latin-indie score.

ES | Basada en su propia novela gráfica, esta es la historia de POWERPAOLA. Paola nació en una familia tradicional colombiana, o al menos eso es lo que tratan de aparentar. El papá es sacerdote, la mamá es vidente y las hermanas no precisamente son lo que sus padres esperaban. Esta es la historia de una joven que lucha por su independencia en un contexto duro, lleno de estereotipos y apariencias y que narra la vida de una mujer latinoamericana que no responde a ningún canon y que aprende a vivir mientras va viviendo. Con una visión del mundo de una particular forma femenina esta niña es testigo de una sucesión de pequeñas crisis que van moldeando su personalidad.

NL | Gebaseerd op haar eigen graphic novel, is dit het coming-of-age verhaal van Paola, ofwel POWERPAOLA, dat zich afspeelt in Ecuador & Colombia. Met betoverende DIY zwart-wit animaties en een lo-fi Latin-indie score.

LOS PROPIOS BATEROS
(Susana Ojeda + Hubert Marz, 2019) - '51

ES | Los Propios Bateros es la historia de los primeros bateristas colombianos, aquellos que hicieron parte de las grandes orquestas de música tropical y que con sus golpes, revolucionaron todo el continente americano y lo pusieron a bailar con ritmos como la cumbia, el porro, la guaracha, la gaita, el fandango y el merecumbé entre muchos más. El proyecto es un viaje a las historias de los bateristas que crearon la base rítmica y sonora de la música tropical colombiana. Con Pedro Ojeda de Romperayo y Los Pirañas.

EN | A documentary about the unknown masters of the Colombian music industry: the drummers! Pedro Ojeda (Romperayo) takes us through the stories of the first Colombian drummers who helped shape Colombian tropical music.

LA SOMBRA DEL CAMINANTE (Ciro Guerra, 2004) - 1'31

ES | La primera película del director de LOS VIAJES DEL VIENTO (2009), EL ABRAZO DE LA SERPIENTE (2015) y PÁJAROS DE VERANO (2018). Dos hombres se encuentran en el centro de Bogotá; a uno le falta una pierna, el otro es un "silletero", un hombre que lleva a la gente por dinero. Cada personaje lleva la carga de una amarga vida pasada.

EN | The gritty debut film by the director of LOS VIAJES DEL VIENTO (2009), EL ABRAZO DE LA SERPIENTE (2015) and PÁJAROS DE VERANO (2018). Two men meet in downtown Bogotá; one is missing a leg, the other is a "silletero", a man who carries people around for money. Each character bears the burden of a bitter past life.

LOS NO FUTUROS: a punk opera

NL | LOS NO FUTUROS zijn terug! Voor onze eerste editie in 2015 nodigden we de Nederlands-Colombiaanse band uit om de soundtrack van punkklassieker Rodrigo D: No Futuro te spelen. Gezien we nu de vijfde editie vieren, leek het ons toepasselijk hen opnieuw uit te nodigen! Met bekende en eigen nummers, gecombineerd met filmbeelden, wordt speciaal voor deze avond een punk opera gecreëerd.

ES | LOS NO FUTUROS están de vuelta! Durante nuestra primera edición en 2015, invitamos a la banda colombo-holandesa a tocar la banda sonora del clásico punk Rodrigo D: No Futuro. Ya que estamos celebrando nuestra quinta edición, ¡es apropiado invitarlos otra vez! Con canciónes existentes y nuevas mezcladas con imagenes de películas colombianas se convierte en una opera punk.

EN | LOS NO FUTUROS are back! During our first edition in 2015 we invited the Dutch-Colombian band to play the soundtrack from punk classic Rodrigo D: No Futuro. Since we're celebrating our fifth edition, it's appropriate to invite them again! With known and own songs, mixed with film footage, a punk opera will be created.

RAMONA: LA FURIA NO SE GUARDA
(César Barrera Burgos, 2018) - '13

ES | Omar, un niño rebelde es obligado por su padre a cuidar una perra abandonada. Una noche ella lo defiende de un malhechor que furibundo los sigue hasta su casa y es allí cuando temeroso deberá actuar con determinación para terminar con el problema. Omar no siente temor ni oculta su debilidad de niño pues conoce de su empuje. No quiere ser guiado ni aconsejado, solo ser certero en el momento justo, como cuando hace su mejor truco en patineta andando por el barrio con su mascota.

EN | The rebellious Omar is forced by his father to care for an abandoned dog. One night she defends him from a crook who furiously follows them to his house. It is there that he must act with determination to end the problem. Guest present during the film!

NL | De opstandige Omar wordt door zijn vader gedwongen om voor een zwerfhond te zorgen. Op een avond beschermt zij hem tegen een schurk, waarna deze hen volgt naar hun huis. Daar moet Omar met wilskracht handelen om het probleem te beëindigen. Gast aanwezig tijdens de film!

KILLING KLAUS KINSKI (Spiros Stathoulopoulos, 2016) - '21

EN | This short film by the Greek-Colombian director Spiros Stathoulopoulos, best known for the uncut cult film PVC-1 (2007), revisits a myth of the history of filming Fitzcarraldo, the masterpiece directed by Werner Herzog in 1982.
